My Story

Born and raised in Connecticut, I have always considered myself an artist. Growing up, there was not much to do in my hometown unless you were "cool" enough to be invited to high school parties. I was not. I also went through a bit of the stereotypical Emo phase that a lot of millennials go through. As a moody and brooding teenager...I spent quite a bit of time creating artwork on Friday nights. This eventually led to a love of drawing and a thirst for adventure.

I studied Illustration at University of the Arts London. During my time overseas, I had the opportunity to collaborate with many artists of different backgrounds, and study under several practicing illustrators. Although I gladly would've lived in the UK forever, came back to the US after completing my Foundation Degree.

I moved to Myrtle Beach, SC (yet another culture shock). The old idiom of the "starving artist" surprisingly didn't mean much here. In a tourist town, you can always BANK on caricatures...pun intended. I currently have 6 years of caricaturing experience behind me.

I have also worked as a freelance illustrator since graduating UAL. I have worked on a large variety of projects, never really settling into one niche. I enjoy a challenge, and there's some projects that art school can't prepare you for. For example, I have a special love for sequential art, so when I was commissioned to illustrate my first children's book I was ecstatic. Then I realized..."Oh my gosh, I've never done this before." With a little research (and a lot of determination), I finished it!  It is currently pending publication. I am always looking forward to working with new clients, and helping their visions come to life.

In 2019, I decided to expand my repertoire of knowledge to a previously unknown area of the art world; fine art. I had grown a little bored of churning out dozens of 5 minute sketches every day at the caricature stand. I got a job at a small art gallery, where I've learned about fine art publication and sale, and had the chance to meet with several well established artists. The experience of working around such beautiful pieces inspired me to pick up a paint brush again, something I hadn't done since high school.

As I've said, I love a good adventure. In recent years my favorite place to go on these "adventures" is anywhere in the Blue Ridge Mountains. This inspired my most recent personal project, the Blue Ridge Parkway Series. When completed, there will be 10 paintings in the collection. Initially I aimed to get as close to realism as possible, but quickly learned that my style is more fantastical and illustrative. My ultimate goal with each painting is to capture the mood of each scene through brushstrokes, color, depth, composition, and lighting.

Lastly in my list of  current projects...I am also a  mom! My daughter, now 2 years old, has been my primary source of inspiration. I designed every piece hanging in her nursery, and started a new series called "Critters & Chrysanthemums..." its a CeCe aesthetic.

I hope you've enjoyed learning a little bit about my chaotic energy, and I hope you enjoy my work.
